For best results
- Landscape mode — Turn your phone sideways so the logbook fills the frame left to right
- Flat & square — Lay the logbook flat on a table. Keep your camera directly above, parallel to the page (no angles)
- Good lighting — Use bright, even light. Avoid shadows across the page. Natural daylight near a window works best
- Both pages visible — Capture the full two-page spread so all columns from DATE through REMARKS are included
- Sharp focus — Tap the center of the page on your phone screen to focus before shooting. Hold steady
- Fill the frame — Get close enough that the entries are readable, but include all column headers
Avoid
- Portrait (vertical) orientation — harder to read columns
- Curved or bent pages — flatten under glass or press down gently
- Glare or flash reflection on the page
- Cutting off column headers or page totals at the edges
- Blurry or out-of-focus shots
iPhone: Open Camera → turn phone sideways → hold above logbook → tap to focus → shoot. Android: Same process, or use Google Camera's document mode if available.
